Yadis! Backup: Methods, Sources, & Destinations

The types of backup supported, as well as what on your computer can be selected for backup and where it can be backed up to, are the most important aspects to consider when choosing a backup software program.

Here's that information for Yadis! Backup:

Supported Backup Methods:

Yadis! Backup supports incremental backup.

Supported Backup Sources:

A folder located on a local hard drive, network folder, or external drive can be backed up with Yadis! Backup, all in real-time.

Supported Backup Destinations:

Backups can be saved to an FTP server, external hard drive, network folder, or local hard drive.

More About Yadis! Backup

  • Windows 10, Windows 8, Windows 7, Windows Vista, and Windows XP users can use Yadis! Backup
  • Option to backup files only if they are newer than those in the destination folder
  • Specific conditions can be met before a backup is launched, like if a file or folder is created or modified, the name changes, and/or one of its attributes is modified
  • A description can be added to a backup job for reference
  • Option to preserve the structure of the source folder
  • Files can be restored from within the program to their original location, though you can also browse through a backup manually without using Yadis! Backup
  • Easily toggle subfolders to be included/excluded from a backup job
  • Backup tasks can be grouped together for easier organization
  • Each subfolder to be backed up can define its own file types to be included/excluded from a backup, independent of the other folders
  • The options you modify in Yadis! Backup can be backed up automatically when you make changes, which then enables custom settings to be restored

    My Thoughts on Yadis! Backup

Real-time backup is a cool feature of Yadis! Backup but there's more to like as well.

    What I Like:

The restore feature is handy because it lets you search by any file type from inside Yadis! Backup. I also like that if you uninstall the program you can still browse through a backup without any software.

    What I Don't Like:

I don't like that Yadis! Backup can't select individual files for backup. You must select an entire folder, which can be an issue if you have single files you don't wish to include. Though file inclusion/exclusion list can be used to make up for this, I see it as an unnecessary extra step.

Restoring files from backup lets you restore to their original location but you can't select a custom one, which is sometimes what you want to do.

It's also too bad that Yaids! Backup does not support encryption or password protection.
