Almost a month after announcing chat history transfers from iOS to Android, WhatsApp has confirmed Android to iOS transfers, as well. According to WABetaInfo, the feature is still in development and will be made available in an update at some unknown point in the future. WhatsApp The specifics of how to go about transferring your WhatsApp chat history from Android to iOS are also a mystery at the moment. Both WABInfo and 9to5Google believe the Move to iOS app will be an important part of the process. Additionally, India Today reports that WhatsApp will ditch support for older smartphone operating systems. Android 4.0.4 (Ice Cream Sandwich), iOS 9, and anything older will be dropped starting this November. Android 4.1 and iOS 10 or higher still will be supported. Google If you're unable or unwilling to upgrade to a new smartphone, you can instead update your OS to a supported version. Otherwise, you can back up your WhatsApp history temporarily, then restore your messages after you've upgraded. While WhatsApp hasn't provided a date for the Android to iOS chat history transfer, it's good to know it's coming. As for stopping support for Android 4.0 and iOS 9 or older, you have about a month to plan for it, but better to take care of it as soon as possible. Was this page helpful?
