Xbox All Access: What It Is and How to Use It

Own a console and play hundreds of games with a subscription

Microsoft's Xbox All Access is the name of Microsoft's combination gaming plan which offers a current gaming console along with its game service called Xbox Game Pass Ultimate.

What Does Xbox All Access Include?

All Access includes an Xbox console and 24 months of Xbox Game Pass Ultimate, plus the option to upgrade if Microsoft releases a new console and you have paid the equivalent of 18 months of your contract at that point.

Xbox Game Pass Ultimate is a monthly subscription that combines Xbox Game Pass and Xbox Live Gold. The basic Xbox Game Pass is a subscription service that includes first-party Microsoft Xbox games and a rotating library of third-party games. Ultimate includes perks like EA Play, a separate subscription service that provides a large catalog of sports and action video games from EA.

Xbox Live Gold provides access to online multiplayer, includes a curated selection of free games every month, and access to exclusive game sales. Xbox Game Pass Ultimate also allows Android owners to stream and play games on their Android phone or tablet through Microsoft's cloud gaming technology.

Isn't This Service Already Available?

Currently, Xbox All Access provides customers with an Xbox One S console along with Xbox Game Pass Ultimate.

As soon as Microsoft's line of next-generation consoles is released on November 10, 2020, All Access will have two new plans: one for the high-end Xbox Series X, and another for the smaller, digital-only Xbox Series S.

How Much Does Xbox All Access Cost?

Because there are two new Xbox models, there are two different pricing tiers.

  • Xbox One S plus Xbox All Access costs $22.99/month.
  • Xbox Series X plus Xbox All Access costs $34.99/month.

When you sign up, you must sign up for a 24-month contract. All of the above payment plans have no upfront cost and no annual percentage rate (APR).

How Xbox All Access Works

Anyone who wants All Access must open a Citizens One Line of Credit. Citizens One, which is a brand name of Citizens Bank, N.A., provides the financing for Xbox All Access. There are no application fees, annual fees, late fees, or early repayment fees for this payment plan but you do need to qualify according to the bank's requirements.

You cannot use your own credit card for Xbox All Access.

Upon approval and purchase of the Xbox All Access bundle from a retailer, you will receive an Xbox console and a code for 24 months of Xbox Game Pass Ultimate.

After that, you will receive a monthly statement with Citizens One recommended automatic monthly payments. After the 24-month period, you may keep the Xbox console that came with the bundle. Any returns or cancellations are subject to the retailer's return policies.

Late payments may be reported to credit bureaus and may affect your credit score.

How to Upgrade to a Next-Gen Xbox With All Access

If you already have an Xbox One S from your Xbox All Access bundle, you can take advantage of the All Access upgrade program to get a next-generation Xbox console.

If you are in a contract now and have made the equivalent of 18 monthly payments you are eligible to upgrade to an Xbox Series S or Xbox Series X bundle.

After qualifying for and purchasing an Xbox Series X or Xbox Series S bundle from a retailer, you would then mail your Xbox One S back to Microsoft with a provided trade-in kit.
