Apple's discontinued MobileMe suite of online services included an email service, based on the mac.com domain. Users who wanted to send MailMe messages with an email client used the MobileMe Mail SMTP server settings to make it work.

The mac.com domain predated the July 2008 relaunch of Apple's web services as MobileMe by several years. All services were transitioned and replaced by iCloud as of June 30, 2012.

The MobileMe SMTP Settings

Here are the SMTP settings used to make MobileMe work on an email client:

  • MobileMe SMTP server address: smtp.mac.com
  • MobileMe SMTP username: MobileMe Mail username (The username precedes "@mac.com" in the MobileMe Mail address. For example, if the MobileMe Mail email address is "person@mac.com," then "person" is the username.)
  • MobileMe SMTP password: MobileMe Mail password
  • MobileMe SMTP port: 587
  • MobileMe SMTP TLS/SSL required: yes
