Wharfedale Diamond 10 SX-SUB Subwoofer - Controls/Connections

Here is the final photo in our look at the Wharfedale 5.1 Channel Home Theater Speaker System that shows a close-up view of the controls and connections located on the rear of the subwoofer.

Line Level In/Out: This where you plug in the subwoofer LFE or Preamp output from your home theater receiver or AV processor - if only using a single RCA cable, you can use either the R or L input, but the left input is most commonly used in such cases. The Line Level outputs allow you to connect an additional subwoofer if desired.

Speaker Level Inputs (also commonly referred to as a Hi-Level Input): This connection option is provided for receivers or amplifiers that do not have an LFE, subwoofer, or a stereo line output. To make the best use of this option, your receiver needs to have front A and B speaker outputs. Use the A speaker connections on your receiver and amplifier for the front left and right speakers, and use the B speaker connections for the subwoofer. This ensures that the main left and right speakers are still connected to the home theater receiver for the mid-range and high frequencies.

Volume: This is used to adjust the sound output of the subwoofer in relation to the other speakers.

Crossover Frequency: This control sets the point at which you want the subwoofer to produce low-frequency sounds, against the ability of the center, main, and surround speakers to reproduce low frequencies. The crossover adjustment provided on this subwoofer is variable from 35 to 85Hz via 6 non-continuous clickable steps.

Phase: This control matched matches in/out subwoofer driver motion to the satellite speakers. This control can be set at either Normal (0 degrees) or Reverse (180 degrees).

Auto Power Switch: If set to On, the subwoofer remains continuously on. If set to Auto, the subwoofer will start when a low-frequency signal is detected. When set to off, the subwoofer will not respond.
