How to Watch the Fast and Furious Movies in Order

Nine films and two shorts make up the Fast and Furious universe

The Fast and Furious films are action-packed thrillers that go from illegal street racing to international heists. But they are also ensembles with turbo-charged characters introduced in each sequel.

That’s why you must watch them in the right order to follow the fate of Dominic "Dom" Toretto and the other furious protagonists who flip in and out between the sequels and spin-offs.

The original trilogy that started in 2001 took a story detour in between the second and third films. Now, you can also expect to see more spinoffs with the box office success of Hobbs & Shaw, the spinoff released in 2019.

How to Follow the Fast and Furious films in Chronological Order

Binge watchers can catch up on the Fast and Furious franchise in chronological order. Two official short films, two spinoffs, and another little known origin story of one of the characters decide how you should watch the films in the right order.

Note:

The chronological order does not include the indie film Better Luck Tomorrow. Justin Lin directed this little known film before he helmed "Tokyo Drift" and other movies in the lineup, and it could be an interesting watch as Han Lue (Sung Kang) is part of the story. The movie is a crime drama but does not involve car pyrotechnics or international heists. The film isn't an official part of the Fast & Furious franchise.
