The Vizio E55-C2 is a 55-inch Smart LED/LCD TV with 1080p native resolution display capability, supported by full array LED backlighting with 12 zone local dimming and a 120Hz effective refresh rate with additional motion processing for a 240hz effect.

To start off this photo look is a front view of the set. The TV is shown here with an actual image displayed on the screen. The photo has been brightness and contrast adjusted slightly in order to make the TV's black bezel more visible for this photo presentation.

As you can see, the E55-C2 has a stylish, thin bezel, look, with stands on each end, which provide a fairly sturdy platform despite their small size. The TV can also be wall-mounted, but mounting hardware is optional. Whether you place the TV on shelf or wall, make sure it is safely secured.

In addition to the style and installation of the TV, it is also important to point out there are no onboard controls provided - all features and functions of the TV (except for the physical connections) are only accessible via the provided remote control, which will be shown later in this photo profile.

Starting on the top is USB input for accessing audio, video, and still image files on USB flash drives.

Just below the USB port is an HDMI input (this is one of 3 HDMI inputs provided on E55-C2).

Continuing to move down is a Digital Optical audio output and a set of analog stereo RCA (Red/White) outputs that can be used to connect the TV to a home theater receiver, sound bar, or other compatible external audio system.

Here is a look at the horizontally placed connections on the Vizio E55-C2.

Starting from the left of this photo and working right are two HDMI inputs (HDMI 1 input is also Audio Return Channel (ARC) enabled).

Next is an LAN (Ethernet). It is important to note that the E55-C2 also has built-in Wifi, but if you don't have access to a Wireless router or your wireless connection is unstable, you can connect an Ethernet cable to the LAN port for connection to a home network and the internet.

Moving right is the combined Component (Green, Blue, Red) and Composite Video inputs, along with associated analog stereo audio inputs.

Finally, on the far right is Ant/Cable RF input connection for receiving over-the-air HDTV or unscrambled digital cable signals.

It is important to note that unlike some TVs, the E55-C2 does not have a PC-in or VGA. If you want to connect your PC or Laptop to the E55-C2, it must have either an HDMI output or a DVI-Output that can be used with a DVI-to-HDMI adapter.

The Remote Control for the E55-C2 is compact (a little less than 6-/1/2 inches in length), and fits in a hand well. However, it is not backlit, which makes it a little more difficult to use in a darkened room - especially since the buttons are so small.

On the very top of the remote are the Input Select (left) and Standby Power On/Off (right) Buttons.

Just below the input and standby buttons are three quick access buttons for the Amazon Instant Video, Netflix, and iHeart Radio streaming services.

Next are a series of transport buttons that can be used when controlling a compatible disc player (DVD, Blu-ray, CD) or the transport functions of internet streamed and network-based content.

Just below the transport buttons are the Menu Access and Navigation controls.

In the next section, down contain the volume and channel scrolling buttons, as well as Mute, Return, and VIA (Vizio Internet Apps) access button (the V button in the middle).

The next row of buttons, represented by icons, control Mute, Aspect Ratio, Picture Mode, and Return functions.

Finally, on the bottom, is the Numeric Keypad. This can be used to access channels directly, audio tracks and chapters on controllable media content, and password entry when needed.

As mentioned previously, this is the only control for the TV (unless you are using a compatible universal remote control), as there are no supplementary controls provided on the TV.

Here is a look at the two pages of the Picture Settings Menus. Starting with the left image are following settings:

Picture Mode - Vivid (provides a brighter, more color saturated picture, better suited to brightly lit rooms), Standard (provides a preset color, contrast, and brightness setting more suitable to normal viewing conditions and also meets Energy Star power consumption standards), Calibrated (sets picture mode for brightly lit rooms), Calibrated Dark (sets picture mode for darkened room settings), Game Mode (reduces delay between game control input and displayed images), Computer (sets color and contrast that more closely matches a computer monitor screen).

Auto Brightness - Adjusts the TVs backlight output according to ambient room light conditions.

Backlight - Allows manual adjustment of backlight output of the full array LED light source.

Brightness - Adjusts the amount of black level of the displayed image.

Contrast - Adjusts the amount of white level of the displayed image.

Color - Adjusts color intensity.

Tint - Adjusts the amount of red and green in the displayed image - works in conjunction with the color adjustment for fine tuning flesh tones and other hard to adjust color shades.

Sharpness - Adjusts contrast intensity between object edges - However, keep in mind that too much sharpness can make edges look too harsh.

More Picture - Provides access to additional picture settings (see photo on right) and list below:

Color Temperature: Provides further settings for optimized color accuracy. Includes both color temperature presets: Cool, Computer, Normal (slightly warm), as well as custom settings that provide both gain and offset adjustments for Red, Green, and Blue.

Black Detail - Adjusts the overall brightness level of the entire image - in other words, everything gets brighter or everything gets darker - helps to bring out detail in dark areas.

Active LED Zone - When set to ON, there is precise backlight control in local areas (12) of the screen to improve the look of both bright and dark areas of objects in the displayed image.

Clear Action - Reduces motion blur in fast action scenes by engaging the Blacklight Scanning feature (turns the backlight system on an off rapidly).

Reduce Noise - Provides a way to reduce the effects of video noise that may be present in a video source, such as television broadcast, DVD, or Blu-ray disc. There are two type of noise reduction settings: Signal Noise (helps to reduce the "snowy noise in the picture" and Block Noise (helps to reduce the amount of pixelation and macroblocking that may be present in digital video files. Also, it is important to point out that although these setting options do reduce noise, as you increase the amount of noise reduction, perceived detail in the image is also reduced.

Game Low Latency - Reduces lag response between gaming controls and the displayed image (similar to the Game picture settings control).

Picture Size and Position Allows the user to make adjust a 16x9 image so that is it fills out to all the screen edges.

Film Mode Optimizes the image for display of 1080p/24 film content.

Gamma - Sets the TV's Gamma Curve.

Picture Mode Edit - Allows users save or delete manually changed picture settings.

Color Calibration - Gateway to manual picture calibration settings (should be done by a tech using standard test colors and patterns (color bars, flat, and ramp test patterns included in the TV).

The last menu page I wanted to show you before concluding this photo look of the Vizio E55-C2 is the included Onscreen User manual. This allows you to access any needed operational information about the TV without having to track down the printed user manual that you may have misplaced or stored an inconvenient, hard to find, drawer somewhere.
