How to Set Up Yahoo Mail Auto-Reply

This article explains how to automatically reply to incoming emails in Yahoo Mail to inform senders not to expect an answer from you right away. These instructions apply to web versions of Yahoo Mail in all browsers.

How to Set Up a Vacation Auto-Reply in Yahoo Mail

To have Yahoo Mail reply to emails automatically while you're out of the office:

1. Select the gear in the upper-right corner of Yahoo Mail.

2. Select More Settings.

3. Select Vacation response.

4. Turn on the Turn on vacation response toggle switch.

5. Specify the start and end date for the auto-reply.

6. Type your auto-reply message.

   Use the toolbar to apply text formatting to the auto-reply message.

7. To send an alternate message to senders who share a domain, select the Send a different response to specific domains check box, then enter the required information.

8. Select Save.

Yahoo Mail remembers who has received an auto-reply, so repeat senders will see only one message.

How to Set Up a Vacation Auto-Reply in Yahoo Mail Basic

To configure Yahoo Mail Basic to reply to incoming messages automatically:

1. Select the Account Info drop-down arrow in the upper-right corner of Yahoo Mail Basic.

2. Select Options, then select Go.

3. Select Vacation Response.

4. Check the Enable auto-response during these dates (inclusive) box.

5. Specify the start and end date for the auto-reply, then type your auto-reply message.

   Text formatting is not available in Yahoo Mail Basic.

6. To send an alternate message to senders who share a domain, select the Different response to emails from a specific domain check box, then enter the required information.

7. Select Save.
