Universal Search

Definition: Google universal search is a term for results from multiple specialized searches appearing within the main Google Web search results instead of showing up as a separate box at the top of the search results page. The system was introduced in 2007.

Not all Google sources appear in Google universal search results.

Examples: Search results for YouTube videos may have appeared in the main Google search in 2007.

The results would be ranked according to relevance, rather than floating above other results.
