  • Over 10 years covering consumer technology industry
  • Freelance journalist with work published in The New York Times, Vice, USA Today, HuffPo, and more
  • Avid DIY musician, builder, gardener, and tech guru

Tyler Lynch has been writing about technology on and off for over ten years, most recently as an updates editor for Lifewire. At various stages in his career, he has worked as a journalist, staff writer, editor, and consultant, spanning covering of consumer tech, internet culture, environmentalism, politics, film, commerce, and everything in between.

An avid fiction writer, he has also published science-fiction in a number of respected journals, including Vice, Porter House Review, McSweeney’s, and Permafrost. As a DIY hobbyist, he enjoys building stuff and gardening around his home in Maine, where recent projects included a cedar deck, a wood-fired-pizza oven, and an in-ground firepit. He is also a lifelong musician, multi-instrumentalist, and hobbyist producer, spending a lot of time fiddling with synthesizers, guitars, and effects pedals.

My Gear

My daily use computer is a 2020 13-inch MacBook Pro. My phone is an iPhone 8. For audio/music production I have a Focusrite Scarlett 2i2 interface hooked up to a pair of Beyerdynamic DT-990 Pros, along with two 8-inch Yamaha HS8 studio monitors. I ride a 2003 Honda Shadow and have a messy garage full of power tools for DIY home projects.

Tyler attended Syracuse University, where he majored in English and Textual Studies. Since then he has attended a number of writing workshops at Harvard University, GrubStreet, and elsewhere.

A Message from Tyler Lynch
