Turning a Fitbit tracker off is different than a restart and a reset. A restart will turn it off and then on all within one action and will not lose any data. Not all Fitbit models feature the ability to be turned off. The fitness trackers that can turn off are the Fitbit Blaze, Fitbit Ionic, Fitbit Versa, Fitbit One, and the Fitbit Surge. The ability to turn off a Fitbit shouldn't affect your decision when choosing which fitness tracker to buy as very few people will actually need to do this. This isn't an important feature. Points you should look out for when buying a Fitbit are battery life, tracking features, and overall style and look. There is very little benefit in completely turning off a Fitbit tracker but doing so may be useful when gifting a Fitbit to someone else or for saving the battery life when traveling without a charging cable. For example, if you're traveling overseas and you forget to pack the charging cable, it would make sense to turn off the Fitbit while in a vehicle as you're unlikely to register many steps at that time. While many flights still ask passengers to turn off some of their electronics, there is no safety-related need to turn off a Fitbit while on an airplane. What Do I Do If My Fitbit Can't Turn Off? If your Fitbit model doesn't feature a turn off function, you can still turn it off simply by waiting for its battery to run out of power. To turn it on again, connect the charging cable and plug it into a power outlet. It should begin charging and turn on.
