Though his official title is Professor, Interactive Multimedia at Humber College in Toronto, Tom also adds tutorialist, speaker, raconteur and lecturer to his list of experiences. All of those titles boil down to one word– teacher– and Tom has spent his almost 30 years of graphic software experience showing anyone who cares to listen how to create and build stuff.
Tom has been using graphic software … Yes he has used the “Holy Trinity”: Illustrator ’88, Pagemaker and an Apple Laserwriter … for over 25 years and has watched the graphics industry move to a digital way of doing things for almost as long. As such, Tom is the author of over 15 books with Pearson Education, Que, Peachpit Press New Riders and friendsofED. These included such best selling books as Foundation Edge Animate, Foundation Flash CS5 for Designers, Foundation Flash CS3 Video and From After Effects to Flash:Poetry in Motion Graphics . I end every book I write with the following sentence:
“The amount of fun we have with this software should be illegal. I’ll see you in jail.”
I intend to bring this attitude to my readers by dealing with the topic in a way that is both fun and informative. In fact, I am hoping many of you reading this become my cellmates!
