Tom Green


Though his official title is Professor, Interactive Multimedia at  Humber College in Toronto, Tom also adds tutorialist, speaker, raconteur and lecturer to his list of experiences. All of those titles boil down to one word– teacher–  and Tom has spent his almost 30 years of graphic software experience showing anyone who cares to listen how to create and build stuff.


Tom has been using graphic software … Yes he has used the “Holy Trinity”: Illustrator ’88, Pagemaker and an Apple Laserwriter …  for over 25 years and has watched the graphics industry move to a digital way of doing things for almost as long. He believes his students deserve to be taught by instructors who are regarded as experts in their field and whose knowledge of his subject is current with industry best practice.

As such, Tom is the author of over 15 books with Pearson Education, Que, Peachpit Press New Riders and friendsofED. These included such best selling books as Foundation Edge Animate, Foundation Flash CS5 for Designers, Foundation Flash CS3 Video and From After Effects to Flash:Poetry in Motion Graphics . He has also produced several online and DVD video training series for— Up and Running with HTML 5 Video and Web Motion Graphics for Beginners are his latest courses – video2brain, InfiniteSkills, Envato and other companies.


As well Tom has produced well over 1,000 individual tutorials for such sites as,, and through his own YouTube channel that focus on providing entry to intermediate-level skills for a variety of graphics software products.

He is also an Adobe Community Professional and a member of Adobe’s Higher Education Leader Program in the Post Secondary area. As well, Tom is also member of the Adobe Education Leader Advisory Board.

Tom is also in great demand as a speaker and regularly does presentations at major industry conferences around the world. These conferences include FlashintheCan (FITC), Spark Europe, TODCON, FITCHollywood, Flash China, Adobe Max, Developer to Designer Workflow Conference (D2WC),Web Design World and Digital Design World. Tom also visits and speaks to User Groups both locally and around the world including the Los Angeles Adobe User Group, DevTO, After Effects in Toronto and DesignTO.

Tom has also delivered expert lectures at such Post Secondary institutions as Shenzhen Polytechnic, Rochester Institute of Technology, Pasadena Community College, Central Academy of Fine Arts in Beijing, Ocean University in Shanghai, University of Wisconsin, The Sloan Merlot Consortium, EMMA Foundation Master Classes for Post Secondary students in Hamburg, Germany and Toronto, World Wide Web Masters and Red River Community College in Winnipeg. As well, with the sponsorship of Adobe,

Tom has delivered several lectures to the faculty and administration of Colleges and Universities participating in the Adobe Education Leaders program. Adobe also sponsored a lecture tour throughout China in 2011 where Tom lectured at 12 Universities and Colleges throughout China. In 2009, the Central Academy of Fine Arts in Beijing, arranged for Tom to speak at 7 Universities in 5 cities across China.
