Konami's "Super C" game for the Wii is the sequel to the mega-hit game "Contra," which popularized side-scrolling shooter games in the late '90s. "Super C"—known as "Super Contra" on some platforms—is similar to "Contra," but it adds vertically scrolling screens to the mix. Although Super C is a difficult game, it isn't particularly long, so you'll likely want to play it several times. Whether you are struggling with your first run-through or playing the game for the second or third time, a few game cheats are available to give you extra lives, start a new game with your old score and more.

About 'Super C'

Although "Super C" seems a little dated from a modern gamer's perspective, it is a classic shoot-and-run game that can easily be recommended for two players or any retro action gamer. It is actually a better game with two players because one can lay down cover fire while the other player advances. Although it is not as difficult as the legendarily difficult Contra, it's still a tough game.

You start the game with just three lives and two continues, so making it all the way to the end is an accomplishment that requires impressive gaming skills.

Former "Contra" players will recognize the evil Red Falcon who plans revenge on Super Commandos Mad Dog and Scorpion. Gamers play as either Mad Dog or Scorpion as they fight to save the Earth from intergalactic beings.

"Super C" is part of Nintendo's Virtual Console experience, which brings games that were originally released for NES, Super NES and GameBoy Advance to the Wii.
