Outlook Express has been rendered obsolete since 2012. This article can still help you if you are still using it.

By default, Outlook Express starts with a "home page". That page has looked dated since around 2006, has redundant links, and you probably find yourself clicking through to your Inbox immediately every time you start Outlook Express.

Why not start in that inbox and with your emails right away?

Start Outlook Express in Your Inbox

To open Outlook Express in the Inbox folder automatically without going through the home page, follow these easy steps:

  1. Select Tools | Options from the menu in Outlook Express.
  2. Go to the General tab.
  3. Make sure When starting, go directly to my 'Inbox' folder is selected.

The next time you launch Outlook Express, it will open your Inbox automatically and save you valuable time.

Make Any Page Your Start Page

If you sense a start page in Outlook Express could be useful—if only it showed something useful—, try customizing it.

Now that you are in your inbox faster, you can make it yours by changing the columns shown, tweaking the font size or changing the sort order.
