Here is a photo of the AV connections on the rear panel of the STR-DN1020 located on the left side.

Running across the very top is one HDMI output and four HDMI inputs. All HDMI inputs and output are ver1.4a and feature 3D-pass through. Just to the right of the HDMI connections is the Ethernet/LAN (for access to Internet Radio).

Moving down to the next section are two sets of Component Video (red, green, blue) inputs, followed by a set of component video outputs.

Moving to the right is the input for the optional Sirius Satellite Radio tuner, then moving across is one Digital Coaxial and two Digital Optical inputs.

Moving down to the section is a row of Composite (yellow) video inputs and outputs, and just to right are two remote sensor cable connections (in/out - for wired remote control link with compatible devices).

Moving down to the final section is a row of analog stereo inputs and outputs, a set of Zone 2 preamp outputs, and dual subwoofer preamp outputs.

It must be noted that there are not 5.1/7.1 analog audio inputs or outputs and there is also no provision for direct connection of a Turntable for playing Vinyl Records. You cannot use the analog audio inputs to connect a turntable due to the fact that the impedance and output voltage of the turntable cartridge is different than for other types of audio components.

If you desire to connect a turntable to the STR-DN1020, you can either employ an additional Phono Preamp or buy a one of the breeds of turntables have built-in phono preamps that will work with the audio connections provided on the STR-DN1020.

As a final note, the rear panel also includes a set of AM/FM Radio antenna connections, but they are not shown in this photo profile.

Here is a look at the inside of the STR-DN1020, as viewed from above and the front. Without going into detail, you can see the power supply, with its transformer, on the left, and all of the amplifier, sound, and video processing circuitry packed into space on the right. The large silver structure along the front are the heat sinks. The heat sinks are very effective as the STR-DN1020 runs fairly cool over extended operating times.
