How to Sign Out of Microsoft Edge

Once you set up a Microsoft Edge profile, you'll find that you're automatically logged in every time you open the browser. That's so that syncing functionality can be enabled, giving you more personalized features when browsing. However, if you want some privacy while you browse, it's also simple to log out of the Edge browser.

  1. Open Microsoft Edge. 

  2. Click on your profile image in the right-hand corner.

  5. Choose whether to also clear your favorites, history, and passwords when you sign out by clicking the tick box.

  6. Click Sign Out.

How to Sign Back in to Microsoft Edge

If you've decided to log back into Microsoft Edge, the process is fairly simple to complete. Here's how to log back into your account in a few steps.

  1. Open Microsoft Edge.

  2. Click on your profile image in the right-hand corner.

  4. Enter your sign-in email address.

  6. If you've chosen to keep your passwords stored on Microsoft Edge, you'll automatically log back in. Otherwise, enter your password and click Next.

  7. Click Sync to begin syncing your information between other devices.

  8. You've now logged back into your Microsoft Edge profile.

How to Remove Your Microsoft Edge Profile

If you'd prefer to permanently remove your Microsoft Edge profile from the browser instead of regularly signing out, it's possible to do so. Here are the steps needed to remove your profile permanently. 

This method doesn't delete your account permanently. It solely removes it from Microsoft Edge. 

  1. Open Microsoft Edge.

  2. Click on your profile image in the right-hand corner.

  7. Your profile is now permanently removed from Microsoft Edge.

    If you wish to re-add the profile, you'll need to log back in.

How to Use Microsoft Edge as a Guest

If you're considering signing out of Microsoft Edge for privacy reasons, an alternative is to use a guest account for your browsing instead. That way, you won't have to worry about any data syncing across multiple devices. Here's how to do it.

This method is ideal if you're browsing on a public computer and don't want to leave any history or cookies behind on the system. 

  1. Open Microsoft Edge.

  2. Click on your profile image in the right-hand corner.

  4. A new window of Microsoft Edge reopens and allows you to browse without your history or cookies being saved.
