How to Set Up Screen Mirroring on Your Windows 10 PC

Using Miracast, you can connect your Windows 10 PC to another computer, wireless devices, and compatible smartphones. By following these simple steps, you can get screen mirroring going in no time.

  1. Open the Action Center by clicking the speech bubble icon in the lower right corner of the screen.

  2. Select the Connect button.

  3. A list of compatible computers and other devices is displayed. Select the device you want to mirror your screen on.

  4. A window pops up on the receiving device, asking if you want to allow the computer to connect. Click Accept to connect your computer.

  5. Once you are finished, click Disconnect to conclude the screen mirroring.

How to Check That Miracast Is Enabled on Your Windows 10 PC

While Miracast is a standard feature on most Windows 10 PCs, it never hurts to make sure the software is ready to go. Fortunately, checking that Miracast is on your computer is easy to do.

  1. Press the Windows Key + R on your keyboard to open the Command window.

  2. Type dxdiag into the box and press the Enter key.

  3. Press the Save All Information button located at the bottom of the window. Save the text file in your desired location.

  4. Open the text file and look for Miracast. The current availability status is displayed next to it.

How to Make Sure Your Version of Miracast Is Fully Updated

Even though your Windows 10 PC comes with Miracast preinstalled, it needs to be updated to the latest version to work effectively. The simplest way to take care of this issue is to download a driver utility tool that automatically reviews and updates your drivers to the most current version.

If you find that your Miracast drivers are outdated, follow these steps to update them.

  1. Download the Intel Driver And Support Assistant Tool.

  2. Locate the download folder and click on the .exe file to run it.

  3. Accept the license terms and conditions on the page that opens and click Install.

  4. The system displays a progress bar. Wait for the installation to finish installing.

  5. When the installation is complete, select Launch.

  6. Click Start scan. The system scan your system for available drivers. It then lists all the available drivers that need updating and updates them.
