How to Share a Google Play Store App

The easiest way to share apps is by opening the app in the Google Play Store. You can get there in one of two ways. The easiest way is simply to open the app store on your device and search for the app you want. However, if you already have the app installed, you can go straight to its app store entry the following way.

  1. Tap and hold on the app.

  2. In the context menu that opens, tap App info.

  3. Scroll to the bottom to Store and tap App Details.

  4. Now that you're looking at the App Store listing for the app you want to share, tap the three dots in the upper right corner.

  5. Tap Share.

  6. From here, you can tap a contact or an app to send the URL.

Use a Browser to Share a Google Play Store App

You may have noticed that the information you're sharing looks like a normal website URL. That's because it is. That means you can also locate your favorite app using a web browser on your computer.

  1. Go to http://play.google.com.

  2. Click Apps.

  3. Type the name of the app in the search bar and click Search.

  4. Click on the app.

  5. The URL in your browser is the information you need to share it. Copy that, then paste it into a message, or email, to send the app to your friends.

That's it! That URL is all your phone needs to find the app.

How to Install a Google Play Store App From the Link

If you receive a link that a friend shared with you, it's really easy to install the app. Plus, like sharing, you can do it from your mobile device or from a browser. The easiest way is to install the app directly from your Android device. Open the URL on your Android device and tap Install.

How to Install an Android App From Your Browser

If you don't have your device with you, or if you are on a computer, the link works there too. You can install the app from your web browser to your Android device. assuming you are signed in to the Google Play Store in your browser (we'll cover that too), the app will install remotely to your device,

  1. Open the link on your computer.

  2. If you are not already signed into the Play Store, you'll need to. Click Sign In in the upper right corner. If you are already signed in, skip to step 5.

  3. Enter your email address and click Next.

    Be sure to sign in to the same Google account as your mobile device.

  4. Enter your password and click Next.

  6. You may be asked to choose a device on which to install. Select a device and click Continue.
