What to Know

  • If you're adding an IMAP account, you need additional information like IMAP and SMTP usernames and passwords from your provider.

If you have a Microsoft 365 subscription, you can install the complete suite of Office apps on your iPhone so you can work from anywhere, anytime. Here are the steps to set up Microsoft 365 on your iPhone, including configuring Outlook and your email account.

Install the Microsoft 365 Apps

Start by installing the Microsoft 365 apps you want to use on your iPhone. You do not need to install every Office app—just the ones you plan to use regularly. You can always install the others apps at a later date if needed.

To install the Microsoft 365 apps, open the Apple App Store, search for one or all of the following apps, then download them to your iOS device:

  • OneDrive: Microsoft’s cloud storage service.
  • Word: Office suite’s word processor.
  • Excel: A spreadsheet program.
  • PowerPoint: Microsoft’s slideshow and presentation program.
  • OneNote: A digital notebook, similar to Evernote.
  • Outlook: Microsoft 365’s email client. You can install it or choose to use Apple’s built-in Mail client.
  • Skype: A voice and video messaging service.

After you've installed the apps you need on your iPhone, open one of them (except Outlook) and in the Sign In field, enter your Microsoft 365 email address and password. Once you sign in, you’re automatically activated and logged in for all Microsoft 365 apps.

If you don’t have a Microsoft 365 account, you can get a free 30-day trial or sign up for service at the Microsoft 365 website or tap the Activate icon at the bottom of the iPhone screen.
