Push Windows Live Hotmail in Mail for Exchange

It wouldn't be a phone if it could not access email, would it? It wouldn't be a smart phone if it could not get email pushed to it, would it?

With Mail for Exchange, your Nokia phone can access your Windows Live Hotmail account in so smart a manner, for example. Not only will new emails arrive instantly (if you desire, only in peak hours), your calendar, contacts and email folders are kept in sync automatically, too.

Set Up Push Windows Live Hotmail on a Nokia Phone in Mail for Exchange

To add Windows Live Hotmail as push email account to your Nokia E-series, N-series and S-series phone using Mail for Exchange:

  • Select Menu | Applications | Mail for Exchange.
  • Now select Sync mode.
  • Choose Yes when asked whether you want to create a profile.
  • Enter your Windows Live Hotmail address under Email address:.
  • Leave the Domain field blank.
  • Type your full Windows Live Hotmail address (including "@live.com" or "@hotmail.com", for example) again under Username.
  • Enter your Windows Live Hotmail password under Password.
  • Select OK.
  • Type "m.hotmail.com" (not including the quotation marks) under Exchange server.
  • Make sure Yes is selected for Secure connection.
  • Press the right button.
  • Verify your Windows Live Hotmail address is entered under Username and the Password field is populated, too, while Domain shows None.
  • Press the right button.
  • Pick your desired synchronization schedule.
  • Make sure Server wins is selected for In case of conflict:.
  • Press the right button again.
  • Pick calendar synchronization options.
  • Press the right button.
  • Make sure No is selected under Synchronize tasks.
  • Press the right button again.
  • Choose whether you want your Windows Live Hotmail address book to synchronize with your Nokia phone contacts.
  • Press the right button.
  • Make sure Yes is selected for Synchronize e-mail.
  • Save the new Mail for Exchange profile.
