Get a close-up look at your musical tastes

What to Know

  • There is no built-in way inside of the Spotify website or mobile app to see only a list of your Top Artists.
  • You can see suggestions in Spotify related to your top artists.
  • Use the Stats for Spotify app or website to see which artists you listen to most often.

In this article, you'll learn how to find your top artists on Spotify. This is especially useful if you listen to a lot of different music and can't remember some of the artists you may have discovered.

How to Access Your Top Artists on Spotify

While you can't see specific artists you've listened to most often in Spotify itself, you can view your top music and playlists on the Spotify website. In the Spotify app, the Artist recommendations are drawn from the top music you like.

  1. In the Spotify mobile app, Select Your Library from the bottom menu, and then select Artists from the top menu. This will show you Spotify's top recommended artists based on the artists you listen to most often.

  2. On the Spotify website, select Home from the left menu. Scroll down to the Recently played section to see artists you've recently listened to. If you scroll down further you'll see a Based on your recent listening section with recommendations related to your most recent top artists.

  3. While these two options show you either your recent listening habits or music related to your top artists, they don't specifically list top artists. To do this, you'll need to use a third-party service, which is detailed in the next section.

What Are Top Artists on Spotify?

Spotify is great at providing you with lists of popular music and artists. These are lists curated from what most Spotify users listen to. But if you want to review the artists you listen to the most, the process isn't quite as easy.

Spotify does offer you a way to review genres and playlists you've listened to most often, but it isn't easy to see specific artists. A third-party service you can access with your Spotify account that lets you do exactly that, as outlined above.

  • How do artists make money on Spotify?

Artists receive a portion of the net revenue Spotify earns from Premium subscription fees and advertising. Spotify tallies the total number of streams for each song by a certain artist, determines the song's official ownerships and who distributes it, and then pays artists. Artists receive payment monthly.

  • Can Spotify artists see who listens?

Sort of. With the Spotify for Artists app, Spotify artists can access enhanced stats that show the number of people listening to a song globally at any given time. Other real-time stats are available to the artist for a week after a song is released. Artists can also see if they've gained new followers or if songs have been added to playlists.

  • How do I delete Recently Played artists on Spotify?

To clear out your Recently Played list on Spotify, go to Your Library > Recently Played and hover your mouse over an artist. Click More (three dots) > Remove From Recently Played to delete that item from your Recently Played list.
