When you free rotate a picture, the angle changes depending on how much you rotate the picture. If the free rotate doesn't work for you, rotate the picture by 90 degrees or set a rotation angle. Instructions in this article apply to PowerPoint 2019, 2016, 2013, 2010; and PowerPoint for Office 365. Free Rotate a Picture Select the picture you want to rotate. A rotation handle appears at the top of the image. Hover over the rotation handle. The cursor changes to a circular tool. Drag the rotation handle to the left or to the right to rotate the picture. Free Rotate Picture With Precision To rotate by precise 15-degree increments, press and hold the Shift key while you drag the rotation handle. Rotate the image until you reach the desired angle of rotation. More Picture Rotation Options You may have a specific angle in mind to apply to a picture on a PowerPoint slide. Follow these steps for an alternative option. Select the picture you want to rotate. Go to Picture Tools Format. In the Arrange group, select Rotate Objects to view a list of rotation options. Select More Rotation Options to open the Format Picture pane. In the Format Picture pane, select the Size & Properties tab, if it is not already selected. In the Rotation text box, use the Up and Down arrows to select the correct angle of rotation, or enter the angle in the text box. As you change the angle, the image rotates on the slide. To rotate the picture to the left, type a minus sign in front of the angle. For example, to rotate the picture 12-degrees to the left, type -12 in the text box. Rotate Picture by Ninety Degrees Select the picture. Go to Picture Tools Format. In the Arrange group, select Rotate Options. Select either Rotate Right 90 degrees or Rotate Left 90 degrees.
