Mail Gmail Tweet Share Email Yahoo Mail includes the ability to automatically filter spam to the Spam folder or, depending on the version of Yahoo Mail, the Bulk Mail folder. This works fairly well and keeps your Yahoo Mail Inbox mostly spam-free. But you don't know what mail you may be missing. Review Your Yahoo Mail Spam Folder Periodically The spam filters in Yahoo Mail aren't perfect. So some of your messages may end up in the Spam or Bulk Mail folder instead of your Yahoo Mail Inbox. This is why you should go to the Spam (in Yahoo Mail) or Bulk (in Yahoo Mail Classic) folder once in a while to see whether any legitimate mail is hiding there. Will Mail in the Yahoo Mail Spam Folder Be Deleted Automatically? Messages in the Spam folder are deleted automatically after these messages have been in the folder for 30 days. Check the Spam folder at least once a month or every four weeks so that you don't miss any good messages. What Can I Do to Prevent Automatic Deletion? In addition to reviewing the contents of the Spam folder, mark erroneously filtered messages as not junk. This recovers the message to your Yahoo Mail inbox, makes it available for download via Yahoo Mail POP access, and trains the spam filter not to catch similar messages in the future. Recover Good Mail From the Spam Folder in Yahoo Mail To mark a message as not junk in Yahoo Mail and recover it from the Spam folder: In Yahoo Mail, open the Spam folder. Select the messages you want to recover. Yahoo Mail search doesn't look for emails in the Spam folder. Select Not Spam. Recover Good Mail From Spam Folder in Yahoo Mail Basic To restore a good email from your Spam folder using Yahoo Mail Basic: Open the Spam folder. Select the messages you want to recover. Select Not Spam. As an alternative, open a message to mark it not spam: Go to the Spam folder and open the message you want to recover. Select the Actions drop-down arrow. Choose Not spam. Select Apply. Recover Good Mail from Spam Folder in the Yahoo Mail Mobile App To mark an email as not spam in the Yahoo Mail app on mobile devices and have it restored to the inbox folder: In the Yahoo Mail app, go to the Spam folder. Open a single email or select one or more messages. Long-press one message to display the selection check boxes. Tap more items (the icon looks like three stacked dots). Select Not spam. Empty the Spam Folder Quickly in Yahoo Mail After you check the Spam folder and recover any good mail that was inadvertently caught, delete the remaining messages in the folder. This way, you won't have to check these messages again. To quickly delete all emails in the Yahoo Mail Spam folder: In the Yahoo Mail folder list, hover over the Spam folder. Select the Empty the Spam folder trash icon (🗑). Select OK to confirm your choice.
