Resetting Snapchat Spectacles is a good way to address any issues you might have with syncing, taking Snaps, or importing Snaps from Spectacles to your iOS or Android device.

A hard or soft reset will not wipe your device and remove Snaps. A hard reset, however, will require you to pair your Spectacles to your Android or iOS device again. Accordingly, Snapchat cautions using a hard reset as a last resort, but there isn't much danger in hard resetting.

How to Soft Reset Snapchat Spectacles

A soft reset is an easy way to fix any issues you might have with Spectacles, like syncing Snaps, charging, or experiencing errors. To soft reset your Spectacles, you'll need your Spectacles and 20 seconds.

  1. Press and hold the button on Spectacles for 20 seconds.

  2. After 20 seconds, release the button. You'll see the LEDs on Spectacles flash once.

    Make sure you release the button after 20 seconds. If you miss the mark, make sure to wait at least 10 seconds before trying again. Pressing the button again too soon after holding it down could accidentally trigger a hard reset.

How to Hard Reset Snapchat Spectacles

Hard resetting Snapchat Spectacles is the same process as soft resetting Spectacles, except there's an additional step.

When hard resetting, you will have to pair Spectacles to your Android or iOS device again, even if paired before.

  1. Press and hold the button Spectacles for 20 seconds.

    You may see the LEDs on Spectacles flash during this process.

  2. After 20 seconds, release the button, and then immediately press and release it once more.

  3. This should begin the resetting process. You should see the outside LEDs on Spectacles appear in a triangle formation. These LEDs will begin to rotate, and more LEDs will light up clockwise to represent the resetting process.

    Once the process is fully completed, all the LEDs on Spectacles will flash once. This indicates the hard reset has completed.

Tips on Resetting Spectacles

If LEDs are not lighting up on your Spectacles, they may not be charged enough to perform a reset. Try charging your Spectacles first for at least 20 minutes.

However, it's best to disconnect your Spectacles from power before attempting either a soft or hard reset, as this can sometimes cause issues.

Remember, both hard and soft resets do not wipe Spectacles' memory, so Snaps stored on the glasses will not be impacted by either reset.
