Performing a factory reset on your GoPro, or a hard reset, can solve many performance and connection issues. It also restores the default settings on a GoPro so you can get a fresh start, which is helpful if you’re selling or giving away the camera. You can reset all types of GoPros, including the HERO, Fusion, and Session cameras. When you factory reset a GoPro, it doesn’t delete anything from your SD card or affect the camera’s software.

These instructions apply to the GoPro HERO7 Black, Silver, and White, the HERO6 Black, HERO 5 Black, GoPro Fusion, and GoPro HERO5 Session. If you have an older model, you can find instructions on GoPro’s website.

The first time you power up your GoPro, you see a series of camera tips. To see them again, tap Preferences > Reset > Reset Camera Tips.
