Since the app is mainly used on mobile devices, it could be that you're an Instagram beginner. To help you get started, here's how to post on Instagram. The instructions in this article apply to posting from the mobile Instagram app using either an iPhone or Android phone and assume that you have already downloaded and installed Instagram. How to Post on Instagram Posting on Instagram can be done at any time, though if you're trying to create a platform using Instagram there are some times that are better to post than others. You can also post photos or videos, and they don't have to be captured with the Instagram app. How to Post Photos on Instagram It's easiest to start by posting photos, so here's how to do that. Open the Instagram app on your mobile device. Tap the + (Add) button on the bottom, center of your screen. This opens your Gallery. Scroll through and select the picture you want to post. You can post multiple photos at one time, too, but this article focuses on posting single photos. Alternatively, you can tap Photo to access the Instagram camera to take a picture. Once you have the picture you want to use, tap Next. On the next screen, you have the option to edit and apply filters to the image. The options you have include: Lux: This is the sunshine-looking icon at the top, center of the screen. You can tap this option and then use the slider to lighten or darken shadows, highlights, and contrast.Filter: Slide through the individual filters to alter the effects that are applied to the image. If you choose a filter and you don't like it, you can always go back to the beginning of the filter list and tap Normal to remove any effects.Edit: Tap the Edit tab at the bottom of the screen to access angle adjustments, brightness, contrast, structure, warmth, saturation, highlights, shadows, vignette, and other editing options. When you use the Lux and Edit options, you'll need to tap Done when you've finished making your adjustments. When you've adjusted your photo to your satisfaction, tap Next. On the next screen, you can Write a caption, Tag People, Add a location, and choose any additional social networks (like Facebook, Twitter, or Tubmblr) that you want to post the image to simultaneously. Tap Advanced Settings to access options to Turn Off Commenting, Share Your Posts to Facebook automatically, Write Alt Text for your photos, and Tag Business Partners or Allow Business Partners to Promote. All of these settings are optional. When you finish adjusting these Advanced Settings, tap the left-facing arrow in the top left corner to return to your post. When you've finished creating your post, tap Share. The page closes and your Instagram home page opens to show you the progress of the upload and then the post once it's finished uploading. Don't worry if you post something and then change your mind about the settings, caption you wrote, or even the picture you posted. You can always delete the post if you want to change something. How to Post Videos to Instagram Posting videos on Instagram works similarly to posting photos. The difference is when you first tap + (Add). To post a video, either select a video that you've already recorded from your Gallery or tap the Video tab at the bottom of the screen to open the video camera and capture the video you want to use. There are also a few differences in editing the image. Once you've selected or captured the video you want to use, tap Next to open editing. There you can apply a Filter, just as you would a still image, but you also have the options to Trim the video—use the sliders on either end of the video to shorten it. Or you can add any frame from the video as the Cover for it. If you don't like the sound that's on your video, tap the Sound Off icon on the top, center of the page. If you change your mind and decide to keep the sound, tap it again to turn the sound back on. When you're finished adjusting your video, tap Next to add text, tag people, and add a location to your post. After you've created your post, tap Share to share it with your followers.
