Here is a "dual" view of the main unit of the Panasonic SC-BTT195 system that houses the Blu-ray Disc player and home theater receiver section.

The Blu-ray/DVD/CD disc tray is located on the left side of the front panel. The front panel controls are located along the top (power on, disc eject, and volume are the only controls).

This is also a front panel SD Car Slot and USB port located in the center front. The remote control sensor and front panel display are located on the right-hand port of the front panel.

Finally on the bottom photo is a look at the entire rear panel of the SC-BTT195 main unit, featuring all the networking, audio, video, and speaker connections, which are located on the left and center of the rear panel, as well as a cooling fan located near the center, and power cord receptacle located on the left side.

Here is a look at the rear panel connections on the Panasonic SC-BTT195 Blu-ray/Receiver unit.

Starting on the left side is power cord receptacle, followed by the speaker connections. As you can see there are connections for the center, front L/R "tall boy", surround, and subwoofer speakers.

It is also important to note that the speaker connections are not traditional and the that the speaker impedance rating is 3 ohms. Do not connect the speakers to a different home theater receiver or amplifier other than the SC-BTT195 or home theater-in-a-box system that uses the same type of speaker connections and ohm rating. This also applies to the subwoofer.

Just to the right of the speakers connections is the system cooling fan. However. it is important to note that even though a cooling fan is provided, you still want to place the main unit in a shelf that has a few inches of clearance on all sides and in the rear for proper air circulation.

Moving right is the rear mounted USB port and, just below that is the LAN (Ethernet) Connection. This connect can be used to physically connect the Panasonic SC-BTT195 to an internet router for accessing stored media on your home network or streaming movies and music from the internet.

HDMI output. This is how you connect the Panasonic SC-BTT195 to a TV or video projector. The HDMI output is also Audio Return Channel-enabled.

HDMI is the preferred connection if your TV or video projector has an HDMI or DVI input (in which case you can use an optional HDMI-to-DVI connection adapter if needed).

Immediately to the right of the HDMI output are two HDMI inputs. These inputs can be used to connect any source device (such as an additional DVD or Blu-ray player, satellite box, dvr, etc...) to the SC-BTT195.

Continuing to move right is a digital optical input connection. This can be used to access audio from a CD player, DVD player, or another source that has a digital optical output connection.

Next is a set of analog audio inputs (labeled Aux).

Finally, on the far right of the rear panel, is an FM Antenna connection.

As you can see, both the front an rear views of the speaker are shown. The speaker is a bass reflex design that houses two front-facing 2 1/2-inch full range cone drivers, and on the rear there are two small ports on the lower left and right corners that serve to enhance low-frequency response. The speaker connections the blue and white clips shown in the center of the rear panel.

The speaker on the left side is facing forward so that the 2 1/2-inch speaker driver (mounted in the center) and two outside passive radiators are visible, while the speaker on the right is facing rear so that you can see the speaker connections (note that the speaker wire runs down the speaker internally and out the bottom of the base.

Here is a look at the subwoofer provided with the SC-BTT195.

The subwoofer is shown here in three views. Starting on the left is the video of the front which has the Panasonic Logo on the top and a port on the near the bottom. The port provides extended low-frequency response.

Moving to the middle is a side view look at the subwoofer with shows the grill covering the 6.5-inch subwoofer driver.

Finally, on the right is a view of the rear, which shows the attached speaker cable that connects to the SC-BTT195 main unit.

It is important to note that this subwoofer is a Passive Type. This means is that it does not have its own internal amplifier, all of the power is provided by the main unit. You cannot connect this subwoofer to a standard home theater receiver's subwoofer output. Also, since this subwoofer's impedance is 3 ohms, you cannot use with a receiver or amplifier that has standard 8 ohm speaker connections.

Final Take

Panasonic SC-BTT195 provides a lot practical features for a home theater-in-a-box system. However, the system also delivers great video performance from its onboard Blu-ray disc player and video processing capabilities, and also provides an immersive surround sound listening experience that is appropriate for a small room.
