If you access your Yahoo! Mail account with Mac OS X Mail, there may be spam in your Yahoo! Mail account that you don't see when you access Yahoo! Mail with a browser. This is because, by default, Yahoo! Mail sends on all the spam that normally goes to the Bulk Mail folder, too. There are two ways to filter spam while accessing Yahoo! Mail through POP: disable the download of all the mail in the Bulk Mail folder or mimic the Bulk Mail folder in Mac OS X Mail using local filters.

Instructions in this article apply to Mail for Mac OS X.
