Note that this is dual speaker and that each driver is houses in it own spherical enclosure. Looking that rear view, you can see that the spheres are connected externally in parallel. Since both drivers are identical full range units, there is no crossover.

In the People's Choice system, the Mod 2 is used for the center, left, right channels. When used as a center channel speaker, it rests horizontally, as shown here, on a provided table stand or it can be mounted on a wall (optional hardware required).

Here are the features and specifications of this speaker:

1. Two 3-inch full-range drivers placed in a dual spherical Acoustic Suspension enclosures.

2. Frequency Response: 80 Hz to 20,000Hz (effective response 120Hz to 18,000Hz

3. Sensitivity: 89db

4. Impedance: 4 ohms (still compatible with 6/8 ohm receivers - contact Orb Audio from more details).

5. Power Handling: 15 -115 watts

6. Magnetically shielded for use near vide displays or other magnetically-susceptible components.

7. Dimensions (Center Channel Horizontal Configuration on Stand): (HWD) 5-inches x 8 7/8-inches x 4 7/8-inches.

For this application, the speakers are assembled vertically. They have the same features (such as the separate spherical driver enclosures and external wiring and push-in speaker terminals) and specifications the Mod 2 center channel speaker shown in the previous photo, which the exception of the speakers' phyical dimensions, which are: 4 3/16-inches (W), 9 1/2-inches (H), and 4 7/8-inches (D).

The Mod 1 has a single driver/spherical enclosure that has the same specs as the Mod 2, with less coverage due to its single driver, and also features standard 8 ohm impedance and the same push-in speaker terminals.

Being a single assembly, the Mod 1's smaller dimensions are: 4 3/16-inches (W) x 5-inches (H) x 4 7/8-inches (D).

Combined with the table stand, the Mod 1 weighs 1 lb/1 oz.

The controls and connections provided on the Orb Audio Super Eight Subwoofer are as follows:

Power Mode Switch: Once the Master Power Switch (bottom right of photo) is set to ON, the Power Mode Switch on the top left can be used to set the Super Eight Subwoofer in continous ON mode, Auto Mode (activates the sub when a signal is detected - subwoofer goes back into sleep mode after 15 minutes if no signal is detected), or Mute (amplifier still draws standby power, but does not turn on when a signal is detected - convenient for late light listening where the subwoofer may disturb others).

Volume: This is also referred to as Gain or Level. This is used to set the sound output of the subwoofer in relation to the other speakers.

Phase: This control matches in/out subwoofer driver motion to the in/out motion of the satellite speakers. This control can be set at either 0 or 180 degrees in continuous fashion.

Crossover: The crossover control sets the point at which you want the subwoofer to produce low frequency sounds, against the ability of the satellite speakers to reproduce low frequency sounds. The crossover adjustment is variable from 40 to 160 Hz. This control should be set at the 120Hz point or Disable the crossover setting function (using the X-over labeled switch shown in the photo), if you are using the subwoofer crossover controls, or room correction that includes subwoofer EQ settings, that are available on many home theater receivers.

Also shown on this photo are the input connections available on the Powered Subwoofer, which include both an LFE input and in/out high level speaker connections.

The LFE is used when connecting the subwoofer to a home theater receiver that has a subwoofer line pre-out connection.

The high level connections are used when a subwoofer pre-out connection is not available on a receiver or amplifier. These connections enable you to connect standard speaker outputs from a receiver or amplifier to the subwoofer. Then, using the high level output conections, you can connect the subwoofer to a set of main speakers. Finally, using the crossover setting feature on the Subwoofer, you can designate what frequencies the Subwoofer will use and what frequencies it will pass to the main speakers that you have connected to the subwoofer.
