To get started with this photo profile, here is a look of the entire Orb Audio Mod1X Home Theater Speaker System as viewed from the front. The larger box in the center is the Orb Audio SubOne powered subwoofer, surrounded on the top and on left and right sides with the five Mod1X satellite speakers. Since all the Mod1X speakers are identical, any of them can be assigned to the center, main L/R, or surround channel use.

Orb Audio SubONE Powered Subwoofer - Controls and Connections

Orb Audio SubONE Powered Subwoofer - Controls and Connections
Orb Audio SubONE Powered Subwoofer - Photo of Controls and Connections. Photo © Robert Silva - Licensed to About.com

The controls and connections provided on the Orb Audio SubONE Subwoofer are as follows (starting at the top):

Phase: This control matches in/out subwoofer driver motion to the satellite speakers. This control can be set at either the 0 or 180 degree position.

Volume: This is also referred to as Gain or Level. This is used to set the sound output of the subwoofer in relation to the other speakers.

Crossover: The crossover control sets the point at which you want the subwoofer to produce low frequency sounds, against the ability of the satellite speakers to reproduce low frequency sounds. The crossover adjustment is variable from 40 to 160 Hz.

This control should be set to LFE is you have it connected to a home theater receiver that provides its own subwoofer EQ, crossover, or bass management contros.

If you are not using a home theater receiver with subwoofer crossover or bass management controls, then set the SubONE's crossover from 120 to 180Hz.

LFE and Stereo Line Input Connection Options:

The LFE input is used when connecting the subwoofer to a home theater receiver that has a subwoofer line pre-out connection has an LFE-labeled subwoofer output connection.

Wireless Receiver: This connection is provided to add an optional wireless receiver, so as to eliminate the need to connect a long subwoofer cable between your home theater or stereo receiver and the SubOne. Refer to Orb Audio Wireless Subwoofer Adapter Product Page for more details.

Not shown in this photo is the Master Power Switch (must be set to ON for the Power Standby Function listed above to work), and the AC Power Outlet for the provided detachable power cord.
