iPad Pro 2022 Release Date

The 2022 iPad Pro was announced on October 18 and released on October 26. Instead of unveiling it through a typical Apple event, the company published a press release about the iPad Pro on its website.

2022 iPad Pro Price

Apple's 2022 11-inch iPad Pro starts at $799, and the cellular iPad Pro starts at $999. The 12.9-inch model starts at $1,099 and is $1,299 for Wi-Fi and cellular.

Those prices are for the 128 GB models, but both sizes are available in five total storage variations that top out at 2 TB. The highest-end model is the larger, cellular-enabled 2 TB iPad Pro for $2,399.

iPad Pro 2022 Features

This iPad will ship with iPadOS 16, which includes features like Stage Manager, editing and undoing sent messages, Live Text, and smart photo sharing rules.

Here are some of the defining features in the new iPad Pro:

  • The Apple Pencil Hover experience lets you interact more intuitively with your screen. At up to 12 mm above the display, it shows you a preview of your lines before you make them.
  • With Wi-Fi6E, downloads are up to twice as fast as the previous generation. When combined with cellular, you have access to more 5G networks worldwide (the cellular models come with sub-6 GHz and mmWave).

iPad Pro 2022 Specs and Hardware

There are two size options: 11-inch and 12.9-inch. The smaller screen is a Liquid Retina display with a 2388 x 1668 resolution. The larger one has a Liquid Retina XDR display and a resolution of 2732 x 2048. Both are available in Space Gray and Silver.

Another difference between the two is that the larger iPad includes a 2D backlighting system with 2596 full‑array local dimming zones. The 11-inch iPad has a built-in 28.65-watt-hour battery, while the 12.9-inch tablet uses a 40.88-watt-hour battery. The larger iPad is about half a pound heavier.

They both support the Apple Pencil 2nd-gen and the new Apple Pencil hover feature. These iPads use the new Apple M2 chip, which is an upgrade from the 2021's M1 chip.
