Introduction

Full time writer and editor with 15-plus years experience covering games, tech, pop culture, and travel for a variety of online and print outlets, including Entertainment Weekly, The Hollywood Reporter, IGN, Apple, Tom's Guide, TechRadar, and more.

Experience

As a Lifewire contributor, Matt brings his broad experience covering games and the gaming industry for both enthusiast and consumer outlets. Matt's also worked as a consultant for over a decade, helping dozens of AAA and independent game developers improve their games by offering comprehensive feedback and expert analysis.

Before beginning his full time writing career in 2005, Matt started in the gaming industry as a quality assurance analyst for a variety of game publishers, including LucasArts, Electronic Arts, and Irrational Games. Matt finds little time these days to play games “just for fun,” but is grateful for the opportunity to work in an industry he's so passionate about.

My Gear

I use an Intel NUC 9 Extreme and MSI GS66 Stealth gaming laptop. On the smartphone front, I use whatever iPhone my provider's offering the best deal on (currently the iPhone SE.) For gaming, I have all consoles and VR platforms, but am currently partial to the PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X, and Oculus Quest 2.
