How to Make Bricks in Minecraft

If you want to build a house in Minecraft, you should know how to craft Brick Blocks. However, before you can do that, you need to know how to make bricks in Minecraft.

Instructions in this article apply to Minecraft for all platforms including Windows, PS4, and Xbox One.

How to Make a Brick in Minecraft

Follow these steps to craft Bricks in Minecraft:

Mine clay blocks using a Pickaxe to get some Clay.
Make a Crafting Table. Put 4 Wood Planks of the same type of wood in each box of the 2X2 crafting grid. Any planks will suffice (Oak Planks, Jungle Planks, etc.).
Place the Crafting Table on the ground and interact with it to open the 3X3 crafting grid.

How you interact with objects depends on your platform:
- PC: Right-click
- Mobile: Single-tap
- Xbox: Press LT
- PlayStation: Press L2
- Nintendo: Press ZL
Craft a Furnace. Put 8 Cobblestones or Blackstones in the outer boxes of the 3X3 grid (leave the box in the middle empty).
Place your Furnace on the ground and interact with it to bring up the smelting menu.
Put a fuel source (Coal, Wood, etc.) in the lower box on the left side of the smelting menu.
Place Clay in the upper box on the left side of the smelting menu.
Wait for the progress bar the fill, then drag the Brick into your inventory.

What You Need to Make Bricks

Here's everything you need to craft Bricks in Minecraft:

Pickaxe
Clay
Crafting Table (craft with 4 Wood Planks)
Furnace (craft with 8 Cobblestones or Blackstones)
Fuel source (Coal, Wood, etc.)

What You Can Do With Bricks

To build something, you must combine 4 Bricks to make a Brick Block. Bricks won't catch fire, so you don't have to worry about any structure you build with them burning down.

To make the building process a little easier, here are some structures you can craft with Brick Blocks:

Brick Slabs: Place 3 Brick Blocks in the middle row of the Crafting Table.
Brick Stairs: Place 3 Brick Slabs in the top row of the Crafting Table and 3 Brick Slabs in the middle row.
Brick Wall: Place 6 Brick Blocks in the top row of the Crafting Table and 3 Brick Blocks in the middle row.
