Use them to create a Christmas gift list for kids, a wedding or baby gift registry, as a reminder of things you want to buy in the future, or as a wish list of gifts you'd like for yourself. You could even create all of those lists if you wanted. All you need is an Amazon account and you're ready to create your Amazon wish list. Ready to go shopping? Here's how you can make and share your Amazon wish lists. Creating an Amazon Wish List From any page on Amazon, hover over Accounts & Lists. If you already have a Wish List started, this screen will show Wish List instead of New Wish List. Go directly to step 2 if that's the case. Click Create a List. Select who the list is for, either You or Someone else. Select Wish List to create the wish list. You can choose one of the other options if you're creating a different kind of list. Type a name in List name. Decide whether to make the list Public or Private. If making it public, click Public and enter the name people can search for your list with. If making it private, click Private. Click Create List. There you have it. You've created your first Amazon wish list. Once you've created it, you can manage the list to add more information to it, such as a shipping address or birth date, if it's your birthday wish list. Managing an Amazon Wish List Once you've created your wish list, you may want to customize it or even delete it. From any page on Amazon, hover over Accounts & Lists. From the Your Lists section, click the list name you wish to manage or click Your Lists from the right side to be brought to your main lists page. From there, click the specific list you'd like to manage. Hover over More on the right side (next to the three dots) and click Manage list. From here, you can change the name of your list, the privacy setting, birthday (if the list is for an individual), shipping address, website (if the list is for an organization), and more. Select Keep purchased items on your list to keep everything on your list, even if someone buys it. It'll be marked with the date it was last purchased. If your list is a gift list, you can select Don't spoil my surprises. With this option, purchased items are left on your list for several weeks. If you try to purchase one of these items, you'll receive a warning about purchasing duplicate items. Click Save Changes to update the list options. Deleting a list is also done from the Manage List page, so after Step 3, click Delete list instead. Click Yes in the confirmation window to delete your list. Adding Items to an Amazon Wish List Before sharing your wish list with others, you've got to add some items to it. From the Amazon Website on a Computer Browse for an item. In the Buy box, click Add to List to add it to your default list or click the down arrow to select the list to add it to. The item is added to your list and you can continue browsing. From the Amazon Shopping App on a Mobile Device Open the Amazon app and browse for an item. Do one of the following: On the item page, scroll down, tap Add To Wish List, then choose the list to add it to. OR From the search results page, tap and hold the item image. Your default wish list will appear at the bottom of the screen. Then, drag the item to the wish list bar and let go. Your item is saved to your wish list. Both list owners and collaborators can add items to a wish list, but certain items cannot be added to any wish list, such as out-of-print books, items without release dates, and items with quantity restrictions. Sharing an Amazon Wish List Once you've created your wish list, it's time to share it. You can share it with everyone, just a select group of people, or no one at all (you'll keep it just for yourself). To share your list, you must first change the privacy setting, then share the link. Changing the Privacy Setting of a Wish List From your list page, click More > Manage list. Under Privacy, select Public or Shared. With Public, anyone can search for and find the list; with Shared only the people with the direct link can see it. (Private hides it from everyone.) Click Save Changes. If you made it public, your list will be searchable after 15 minutes. Sharing the Wish List Link Directly If your wish list is Shared, you'll need to send the link to those you want to share the list with. From your list page, select the list you wish to share. Click Send list to others. Click View Only. Click Copy Link to share the link yourself or click Invite by Email to send the link via your default email client, such as MS Outlook, Apple Mail, or Mozilla Thunderbird. Close the pop-up window once you're done. Searching for a Public Amazon Wish List You can only search for lists set to Public this way. You'll need the direct link to find a Shared list. Open the search page by either going to Find a List or Registry or hovering over Accounts & Lists, clicking Your Lists > Your Friends. Enter the name of the person whose list you'd like to find. To search for any variations of the person's name, leave the Include name variations option selected. Click Search. From the results list, either click the person's name to view their wish lists or click Add Friend. This option adds the person to your friend's list so you can come to it without searching again. Removing a Wish List from Your Friends Tab If you no longer want to see your friend's wish list in your Amazon account, you can remove it from your profile (the list itself is not deleted, just removed from your profile). From any page on Amazon, hover over Accounts & Lists. Click any Wish List name to open the Manage Wish Lists page. Click Your Friends. Select the person's name. Click Wish List. Click Remove friend. Confirm the deletion by clicking Remove in the pop-up window.
