The LG TONE Free line of wireless earbuds is getting three extra additions by way of the newly announced FP series. The LG TONE Free FP5, FP8, and FP9 are the company's latest active noise cancelling (ANC) wireless earbuds, all with an IPX4 water-resistance rating so they can withstand splashes. Each of the new earbuds also offering a variety of options depending on the model. LG Each of the three FP series buds features noise cancellation with an ambient and chat mode, spatial audio functionality from Meridian, medical-grade ear gels, and swift multi-pairing. However, the FP5—presumably the more "budget-conscious" model—stops there with an estimated 22 hours of usage with ANC turned off. Both the FP8 and FP9 offer slightly better battery life at up to 24 hours with no ANC. LG The FP8 and FP9 do include an auto-cleaning UVnano charging case, which uses a built-in UV-C LED to kill bacteria in the speaker mesh while the case is charging. UVnano technology is not available with the FP5. The FP8 looks to be the only pair of earbuds out of the three that has wireless charging, while the FP9 offers Plug & Wireless, which doubles as a wireless dongle when connected to a device via a USB-C to AUX cable. LG has not yet announced pricing or specific availability for any of the new FP models, but has stated that the earbuds will be available "starting this month in key markets." Was this page helpful?
