Information on the Fan Remake King's Quest I: Quest for the Crown Free Pc Game

King's Quest

King's Quest I: Quest for the Crown is a free PC game and remake/clone of the original King's Quest I released in 1983 by Sierra Entertainment for the IBM PC Jr computer. The Kingdom of Daventry is in turmoil and Castle Daventry has fallen into ruin. The King, who has had items of great magical power stolen from him, has sent his bravest knight, Sir Graham, on a quest to retrieve them. If he succeeds, Sir Graham will become the rightful heir to the Kingdom of Daventry.

Released in 2001, the King's Quest I: Quest for the Crown fan remake quickly became popular with more than 5,000 downloads in the first year of release. In the 15+ years since its release, it has continued to be updated and popular, having nearly half a million downloads. At the time of this writing, the game is currently on version 4.1. The game was developed using a free programming utility known as Adventure Game Studio that is used to create adventure games.

Gameplay and Features

Much like the original 1983/84/87 releases and the 1990 remake, the fan-made King's Quest I: Quest for the Crown is a point and click graphical adventure game where players control the main character, Sir Graham, by clicking around various points on the screen to have him move to that location or act on an item. The game's interface and audio is nearly identical to that of the original releases as well. The early versions of King's Quest I were developed in EGA Graphics which supports 16 colors while the later 1990 release used EGA 16 colors at double the resolution of the early editions.

The fan-made remake has upgraded the graphics and artwork even further, with the game now supporting VGA graphics model of 256+ colors using the resolution of the originals to keep the same feel
