Johnny Chew wrote for Lifewire for almost three years on the topic of animation. Chew is a freelance director and animator who has worked in the animation industry since 2006 at various studios ranging from children's education animation, to video game animation, to motion graphics and design work.

During the time he freelanced as well, working with TedEd creative producing educational short videos, working on various music videos, as well as running a short-lived animation series for Mondo on Youtube.

He as served as an instructor at the Massachusetts College of Art and Design.
