Jason D'Aprile has been writing professionally since he was 19 (and first published a year before). Starting at a small-press Amiga magazine with his Amiga 500 and an absurd amount of excitement for both technology and writing, his work has appeared in more places than he can remember, with hundreds of articles through the 90s disappearing into the ether as websites came and went.
Jason especially loves writing about video games, but in recent years has focused on the ever-expanding world of smart home technology and now knows more about thermostats than he ever thought possible. Essentially fascinated by any new tech and shiny gadgets, he goes out of his way to test out as much as possible to find what works, what doesn't, and what the next trends in tech will be.
I switch up gear pretty regularly, but my home computing needs are handled by a high-end Windows 10, VR-ready gaming rig and Google Pixelbook laptop. In addition, my home theater sports a Dolby Atmos 5.1 full-range speaker set-up, a host of video game consoles both past and present, and a 65-in 4K HDR Samsung screen.
I'm currently using a Eero mesh wifi setup for wireless, but maintain both wired and wireless networks and regularly install new smart home devices (ranging from video doorbells and smart thermostats to security cameras, smart outlets, and smart lights) for reviewing purposes. I'm primarily an Android user when it comes to mobile devices, usually alternating between the Samsung Note and Google Pixel XL.
I love writing and tech, and have always been the one in my family to provide tech support. Writing how-to guides anyone can understand has been something I've enjoyed doing my whole writing career, making LifeWire is the perfect spot for me.
