6 iPhone Apps for PGA Tour Season

Golf fanatics can get in on all the action of the PGA Tour right from their iPhone. These popular iPhone apps can help you track players and results and some may even help improve your golf game.

1
PGA Tour App

The official PGA Tour app provides schedules, real-time scoring, video highlights and player stats. If you’re unfamiliar with a certain course, the app also offers course profiles complete with images of each hole. Live video is available for some competitions.

2
The Rules of Golf

Still sketchy on some of those obscure golf rules? The United States Golf Association’s The Rules of Golf app (USGA, $3.99) offers on-demand access to every golf rule imaginable. A search function makes it easy to find the rule or decision you’re looking for, and if you get stuck, you can email your question to the USGA directly from the app.

3
Golf News RSS Reader Pro

Instead of visiting multiple websites for the latest golf and PGA Tour news, the Golf News RSS Reader Pro (Executive Caddie), compiles news from multiple sources into one convenient app. You can add up to 16 RSS feeds, including from Golf.com, ESPN, and Fox.

4
Sportacular

For quick access to the latest scores, the Sportacular app (Citizen Sports, Free) is a good choice. In addition to a variety of other sports, Sportacular offers scores for the PGA, LPGA, and EURO PGA tournaments. You can also set up push notifications that will alert you when new scores are posted.

5
ViewTi Golf 2010

It may be pricey, but golf fans say ViewTi Golf 2010 (ViewTi) is worth it. This golf app includes information on over 27,000 courses and its GPS rangefinder helps you track distances to the green. The ViewTi Golf app can also track your results and statistics for each shot.

What better way to pass the time during commercial breaks than playing one of the most popular iPhone golf games -- Tiger Woods PGA Tour (Electronic Arts)?
