The OfficeJet 8600 Inkjet e-All-in-One multifunction printer prints professional-quality color documents for up to 50 percent less per page. If you use HP's high capacity cartridges, you'll save money on consumables compared to laser printers.

Speed and Resolution

The HP 8600 can print, scan, copy, and fax. According to HP's spec sheet, it can print up to 18 pages per minute in black and up to 13 pages per minute in color. Black print resolution is up to 1,200 dots per inch (dpi). Color print resolution is up to 4800 x 1200 dpi.

Photo Printing

The HP 8600 can print borderless photos up to 8.3 x 11 inches. It offers PictBridge support and memory card support for CompactFlash Type I and II, Memory Stick, Memory Stick Pro, Secure Digital (SD), High Capacity Secure Digital (SDHC), MultiMediaCard (MMC), xD-Picture Card, Memory Stick Duo, Memory Stick Pro Duo, Memory Stick Micro (adapter not included, purchase separately), Reduced-Size MultiMediaCard RS-MMC/MMC mobile, MMC micro, miniSD, and microSD (adapter not included, purchase separately).

Scanning, Faxing, and Copying

Optical scanner resolution is up to 4,800 dots per inch (dpi). The software-enhanced resolution is up to 19,200 dpi. You can feed documents up to 8.5 x 14 inches through the automatic document feeder, and pages up to 8.5 x 11.7 inches will fit on the flatbed.

Fax transmission speed is three seconds per page, and the resolution is up to 300 x 300 dpi. The HP 8600 can store up to 125 pages in memory.

The HP 8600 can copy as many as 34 copies per minute in color and 35 pages per minute in black. You can scale images from 25 to 400 percent. It features a 250-sheet paper input tray and a 50-sheet automatic document feeder.


Networking is standard with the Energy Star qualified HP 8600, with a built-in Ethernet connection, Wi-Fi, ePrint, and AirPrint. HP offers free recycling of its print cartridges through Planet Partners.
