The 2020 Special Tony Awards

After the 2019-2020 season was cut short, the Tony Awards were postponed for more than a year. This September's event will coincide with the reopening of Broadway and has a different format.

First, a one-hour broadcast will honor the shows and performances of the 2019-2020 season. This presentation will be followed by The Tony Awards Present: Broadway’s Back! The program, airing from 9 to 11 pm Eastern, will feature special performances from Tony Award nominees and the live presentation of the Best Play, Best Revival of a Play, and Best Musical awards.

If you've cut the cord, but you still want to keep tabs on Broadway, there's no reason to miss even a moment of glamour, action, or entertainment. You can watch the Tony Awards live stream from your computer, tablet, smartphone, or even on your television with a compatible streaming device.

CBS holds the exclusive rights to air the Tonys, but there are many different ways to stream the ceremony.

If it's Tonys time and you aren't near a TV, you can navigate to and watch via the Paramount+ (formerly CBS All Access) streaming service. This option requires a subscription, but there is a free trial available if you've never checked it out before.

To stream the Tonys on, go to the site, select Try Paramount+ in the upper right corner, and sign up for the trial. Once you're all set up, return to during the Tony Awards, select Live TV, and the show will start.

Other Ways to Live Stream the Tonys

In addition to Paramount+, you can also live stream CBS and the Tony Awards via several streaming subscription services. CBS isn't available in every area from every service, so make sure to check availability before you sign up.

Most of these services offer a free trial, which is a great way to watch the Tonys for free while verifying that the service has CBS in your area.

AT&T TV Now, formerly known as DirecTV Now, this service includes ABC, CBS, Fox, NBC, and many more channels.

Hulu + Live TV comes with local ABC, CBS, Fox, and NBC channels, cable channels like ESPN, and more. A 30-day free trial is offered.

YouTube TV provides live on-demand streaming TV channels and also has a cloud-based DVR. With this service, you get ABC, CBS, Fox, NBC, and more. There is a free trial offered.

Sling TV only offers NBC and Fox in a limited number of markets. A free trial is available, but you probably won't be able to watch the Tonys with this one

These providers offer live streaming CBS shows like the Tony Awards only in specific markets. Check your own local availability ahead of time to make sure you'll be able to watch the Tonys.
