How to View and Analyze Page Source in the Opera Web Browser

There are many reasons for wanting to view a web page's source code, ranging from debugging a problem with your own site to just plain curiosity. Whatever your motive, the Opera browser makes it easy to accomplish this task. You can elect to view this source in its most basic form within a browser tab or take a deeper dive with Opera's integrated developer tools. This tutorial shows you how to do both. First, open your Opera browser

Windows Users

Click on the Opera menu button, located in the upper left-hand corner of your browser window. When the drop-down menu appears, hover your mouse cursor over the More tools option. A sub-menu should now appear. Click on Show developer menu so that a check mark is placed to the left of this option.

Return to the main Opera menu. You'll now notice a new option located directly below More tools labeled Developer. Hover your mouse cursor over this option until a sub-menu appears. Next, click on View page source. The source code for the active web page will now be displayed in a new browser tab. You can also use the following keyboard shortcut to reach this point: CTRL+U

To view more in-depth details about the active page and its corresponding code, select the Developer tools option from the Developer sub-menu or utilize the following keyboard shortcut: CTRL+SHIFT+I

Mac OS X and macOS Sierra Users

Click on View in your Opera menu, located at the top of the screen. When the drop-down menu appears, select Show Developer Menu. A new option should now be added to your Opera menu labeled Developer. Click on this option next, and when the drop-down menu appears select View Source. You can also use the following keyboard shortcut to perform this action: Command+U

A new tab should now be visible, showing the current page's source code. To analyze this same page with Opera's dev toolset, first click on Developer in the browser menu at the top of your screen. When the drop-down menu appears, select the Developer Tools option.
