You can easily set up a fake WhatsApp number by following a few key steps, leaving you able to use WhatsApp without a SIM card. Why Wouldn't You Want to Use Your Phone Number With WhatsApp? Privacy is a key reason you might not want to share your regular phone number on WhatsApp. For instance, if you're dating and don't want to feel pestered by people after just one date, or simply because you like to keep different parts of your life separate. How to Use WhatsApp Using a TextNow Phone Number Many apps are available which allow you to set up a virtual phone number. TextNow is one of the biggest out there, and one of the simplest to use. Here's how to verify WhatsApp via a TextNow phone number. Some users have reported issues with WhatsApp detecting that a TextNow phone number isn't a 'true' and valid phone number. Unfortunately, the only way you can fix this is by contacting WhatsApp support so they can manually add you. Download TextNow from the Google Play Store or App Store, depending on your device. Tap Get Started. Enter your email address and tap the arrow. Enter a password and tap Create Account. Complete the Captcha form. Tap Turn On Notifications so you can see when you're receiving calls. Tap Skip For Now for all other options. Enter an area code for your desired phone number. Tap Continue to finish setting up the phone number. Open WhatsApp and enter the phone number to sign up. Wait for the clock next to Call Me to run out and reach zero. It usually takes about a minute. Tap Call Me.
