Using Chromecast is a convenient way to wirelessly send Twitch streams from one device, such as your smartphone or tablet, to your TV screen. Some smart TVs have Chromecast compatibility built-in, while others require the purchase of a Chromecast dongle. Here’s what you need to know about how to watch Twitch on TV using Chromecast.

How to Cast Twitch to TV With Chromecast

Using Chromecast to stream media is fairly straightforward and requires very minimal setup beyond turning your devices on and making sure they’re all connected to the same Wi-Fi.

1. Turn your Chromecast-compatible smart TV on. If you’re using a Chromecast dongle, make sure it’s plugged in.

2. Open Twitch on your Android or iOS smart device.

3. Tap the Cast icon at the top of the app.

   The Cast icon looks like a TV screen with a broadcast signal coming out of it.

4. Tap the name of your screen. The Cast icon should change to solid white when connected and your TV should show the message indicating it's ready to cast.

   A smart TV’s name will likely just be a series of letters and numbers while a Chromecast dongle will be named "Chromecast."

5. Tap a Twitch stream within the Twitch app to have it automatically play on your TV.

   You can also use your Twitch app to change livestreams and participate in Twitch chats or close the app entirely if you wish.

How to Cast Twitch to TV via Google Chrome

If you don’t have an iOS or Android smartphone or tablet with the Twitch app installed, you can also Twitch TV cast by using Google Chrome on your computer.

1. Open Google Chrome on your computer, go to the Twitch website, and begin watching a stream as usual.

   Make sure that your computer and smart TV or Chromecast dongle are using the same Wi-Fi network.

2. Hover your mouse cursor over the video player so that several playback buttons appear, then click the Cast icon.

3. Click the name of your Chromecast dongle or smart TV.

4. The Twitch stream should begin playing on your TV. A blue Cast icon should appear within your Google Chrome toolbar.

How to Watch Twitch on TV Without Chromecast

While Chromecast is a useful piece of technology used to watch a Twitch stream from phones and tablets on a bigger screen, it isn’t the only way to watch your favorite Twitch streamer on your TV.

Here are several alternatives to Twitch TV casting with Chromecast.

• Use the Twitch TV app: If your smart TV has support for apps, it may in fact have a Twitch app that can be used to log in and view broadcasts much like the Netflix and Disney+ TV apps.
• Check your Blu-ray player: Many modern Blu-ray and DVD players come with apps for streaming content and yours may have a Twitch TV app installed.
• Use your Xbox or PlayStation: Microsoft and Sony’s video game consoles both have Twitch apps that can be used to watch Twitch. You can even use these apps to broadcast to Twitch from your Xbox One and PlayStation 4 consoles.
• Use Apple TV: The Apple TV streaming box has a Twitch app that you can use to watch streams. Alternatively, you can also send Twitch footage from your iOS device to your Apple TV.
• Use a smart TV web browser: Many TVs, media boxes, and video game consoles have a web browser app which can be used to watch livestreams via the Twitch website.
• Use an HDMI cable: If all else fails, you can always project your device’s screen to your TV by using an HDMI cable. You may need some additional adapters or dongles depending on your device but it’s a very reliable method if you have the equipment.
