By creating a Hulu kids profile, you can restrict access to R-rated content. Parental control settings apply to Hulu on all device, including tablets, web browsers, and smart TVs such as the Amazon Fire TV. How Do Hulu Parental Controls Work? Hulu allows you to create separate profiles for each person who watches on your account. When setting up a profile, you'll have the option to make it a a kids profile, which is limited to family-friendly shows and movies. Shows rated R or TV-MA will not show up in a Hulu kids profile. A standard plan allows up to two users to watch simultaneously, but you can extend your Hulu screen limit by upgrading your account. How to Set up a Hulu Kids Profile on the Web To create a profile that is restricted to kid-friendly content: Go to Hulu.com and log in to your account. Select your name in the top-right corner, then select Manage Profiles. Select Add Profile. Enter a name for the profile, then select the toggle switch under Kids and set it to the On position. Select Create Profile. The next time you log in to Hulu, you'll be asked who is watching. When you select a kids profile, Hulu will not recommend adult content, nor will adult content show up in search. When watching on the web, you can switch between profiles by hovering your mouse over the profile name in the top-right corner of the browser window. How to Set up a Hulu Kids Profile on a Mobile Device You can also create a kids profile using the Hulu mobile app for iOS and Android. Open the Hulu app and tap Account. Tap your profile name. Tap New Profile. Enter a name for the profile, then tap the toggle switch beside Kids and set it to the On position. Tap Create Profile. How to Update a Hulu Kids Profile You can update or lift content restrictions on a profile at any time. Go to your Hulu account management page and select the pencil icon next to the profile. Select the toggle switch under Kids and set it to the Off position. Enter a birth date, then select Save Changes. Limitations of Hulu Parental Controls Hulu's parental controls are not as extensive as parental controls for Netflix. Unfortunately, it's not possible to block specific shows or movies, or limit access to PG or TV-Y content only, so your kids will still be able to watch PG-13 and TV-14 rated content. If you have set up parental controls for your streaming device, then you can block kids from accessing Hulu altogether. That said, there's no way to password-protect Hulu profiles, which means kids can view all content by simply switching to your profile. You can see what's been recently watched on your profile, so you'll be able to tell if your kids have been using it. You can't restrict access to adult content across all profiles.
