How to Use Hulu Parental Controls

Create a profile for your kids to protect them from inappropriate content

It's possible to set up Hulu parental controls to limit the types of content your kids can see. By creating a Hulu kids profile, you can restrict access to R-rated content.

Parental control settings apply to Hulu on all devices, including tablets, web browsers, and smart TVs such as the Amazon Fire TV.

How Do Hulu Parental Controls Work?

Hulu allows you to create separate profiles for each person who watches on your account. When setting one up, you have the option to make it a kids profile, which is limited to family-friendly shows and movies. Shows rated R or TV-MA don't show up in a Hulu kids profile.

A standard plan allows up to two users to watch simultaneously, but you can extend your Hulu screen limit by upgrading your account.

Limitations of Hulu Parental Controls

Hulu's parental controls are not as extensive as parental controls for Netflix. Unfortunately, it's not possible to block specific shows or movies, or limit access to PG or TV-Y content only, so your kids can still watch PG-13 and TV-14 rated content. If you set up parental controls for your streaming device, then you can block kids from accessing Hulu altogether.
