If you’re new to Fitbit Versa, there are a few quick things you can do to get started using the smartwatch to track your fitness goals, keep you connected to your messages and calls, and much more. Here’s how to use a Fitbit Versa. The instructions in this article apply to the Fitbit Versa and Fitbit Versa 2 smartwatches. While some of these instructions may work for the Fitbit Versa Lite, it is not as fully functional as the other members of Versa Line. How to Setup Fitbit Versa Setting up the Versa is a fast and simple process. Before you get started, make sure you have the charger cable handy, and charge your Fitbit at least half-way so you’ll have enough battery to get through the setup process. If you’re setting up a new device, you may need to turn it on. Press and hold the left, Back button to turn the watch on. If you want to turn it off later to preserve battery, you’ll need to swipe left on the watch face to find the Settings icon. Then go to About > Shutdown. To setup your Fitbit Versa, start by downloading the Fitbit App for your smartphone. Download For: iOS Android Then, open the app and Tap Log-in or Create Account. If you already have a Fitbit account, you won’t need to create a new one. If you’re new to Fitbit, the app will walk you through the process of setting up an account.If you already have a Fitbit account, open the app and log in. Then tap the Account icon in the upper left corner, and tap + Set up a Device. Choose the device you’re setting up. In this case, it will be the Versa or Versa 2. Follow the onscreen instructions to complete the device setup. You’ll need to enter some personal details and agree to the Terms of Service, then put your Versa onto the charging cradle to complete the device setup. You may also encounter the need to update the Versa’s firmware. This can take up to half an hour to complete, so be patient. During the setup process, you’ll be prompted to connect your device to your smartphone via bluetooth and then via your internet connection. The device and the phone must be on the same Wi-Fi network for setup and syncing. What Do the Buttons on Fitbit Versa Do? Once your Fitbit Versa is set up, and you're sure you're wearing it right, then you can start using it. If you’re using a Fitbit Vera, there will be three buttons on the device—one on the left and two on the right. The left button is the Back button. When you long-press this button it opens the Quick Settings where you can control your music and some other settings. The buttons on the right control apps. By default, a quick press of the the top right button controls the top left app on the first app screen. A long-press opens your Notifications. The bottom right button opens the app located on the bottom left of the first app screen. To change the app either of these buttons access, rearrange the apps your first app page. On Fitbit Versa 2 there is only one button. This is the Back button, and a short press will take you to the previous screen. You can set what you want the button to do on a long press in the Fitbit app on your phone. Enable Fitbit Notifications For Messages, Calls and More You probably already know that your Versa is more than just a fitness tracker. Sure, you can connect with the app on your smartphone and use it to track the number of steps you take each day, the exercises you do, your heart rate and sleep cycles. But you can also use your Versa to stay connected. In the Fitbit app, you can set it up so that you're notified on your watch when text messages and phone calls come in. If you're using an Android smartphone with your Versa, you can even use the watch to send short pre-selected or voice dictated responses to text messages. To set this feature up: Open the Fitbit App and tap your Account icon in the top left corner of the page. On the page that appears, tap the name of your device. Scroll down and tap Notifications. Make sure the toggle on the right side of the page is blue (On) to enable notifications for Calls, Text Messages, Calendar Events, Emails, and App Notifications. Tapping each one of those options gives you the ability to turn notifications for that category off, or to change the default app used for that category. If you tap App Notifications you can also toggle On/Off notifications from all compatible apps on your smartphone. You can also toggle On the option for Voice Replies if you're using an Android phone and want to use voice-to-text to answer incoming text messages. Other Things You Can Do With Fitbit Versa There's much more you can do with your Fitbit Versa. From adding Fitbit Pay to Versas with the capability (not all Fitbit Versas support Fitbit Pay) to adding music and apps or games, the Fitbit Versa solidly meets the definition of a smart watch. You can even swap out clock faces or change the band on your Versa to match your outfit or your mood. All of these features mean that with Fitbit Versa, you can stay connected while tracking your fitness goals and activities and so much more.
