Sophos is a full-fledged antivirus and cybersecurity product for both Mac and PC. However, if you want something different or your subscription has expired and you're replacing it, you'll need to uninstall Sophos before installing another antivirus program.

If you're uninstalling Sophos, remember it's important to have some type of antivirus software on your system at all times (even on Macs). If you're in the market for another antivirus program, there are several great ones to look into.

How to Remove Sophos on Mac

After installation, Sophos provides a Sophos Antivirus Removal tool you should run to cleanly remove Sophos from your system. Don't just drag the application to your Mac's trash folder, as this won't completely remove the application from your device.

To uninstall Sophos, use the Sophos Antivirus Removal tool. It can be found in your Applications folder.

  1. To avoid conflicts, turn off any other antivirus software products running on your system.

  2. Go to your Applications folder and double-click Remove Sophos Home.app to begin the removal process.
