How to Uninstall Microsoft Teams on Windows 10

You must remove the Microsoft Teams machine-wide installer

If you can't figure out how to uninstall Microsoft Teams, you're not alone. On computers with Microsoft Office, the program will reinstall itself every time you restart your PC unless you also remove the Microsoft Teams Machine-Wide Installer.

Instructions in this article apply to Windows 10, Windows 8, and Windows 7.

How to Delete Microsoft Teams on Windows 10

If you downloaded the standalone Microsoft Teams app, you can uninstall it as you would remove any program from Windows. However, if you have Microsoft Office installed on your system, the Teams Machine-Wide Installer will automatically restore the app whenever you reboot Windows. To remove both Teams and the Teams Machine-Wide Installer:

  1. Right-click the Windows 10 Start menu and select Settings.

If you don't want the program to load every time you start your computer, you can disable Microsoft Teams instead of uninstalling it.

How to Uninstall Teams From the Windows Control Panel

You can also remove Teams from any version of Windows using the Control Panel.

  1. Open the Windows Control Panel and select Programs.

You can also remove Teams by manually uninstalling Microsoft Office from your PC or running the Office Uninstaller from Microsoft. If you use Microsoft 365 or Microsoft 365 ProPlus for work, Teams might reinstall itself whenever there's an organization-wide software update.
