Many people use Skype as a primary form of communication. Sometimes communication online can get frustrating and a user may decide to block a contact. Luckily, unblocking someone on Skype is a quick and easy option if a clash is resolved.

Read on to learn how to unblock someone on Skype for Windows, Mac, mobile, web, and Skype for Business.

Note: Once a user unblocks someone one Skype, they will likely see any missed messages or call logs that were sent while the person was blocked.

How to Unblock Someone on Skype for Windows

Follow the steps below to unblock a Skype contact on Windows. The steps are the same for Windows 10, 8, and 7:

  1. Access your profile from your profile picture located in the upper left part of the screen.
  2. Scroll down and select Settings.
  3. Scroll down and select Manage blocked contacts.
  4. Highlight the name of the person you wish to unblock and select unblock.
  5. The unblocked contacts will immediately disappear from the blocked list and appear in contacts.

How to Unblock Someone on Skype for Mac

Unblocking contacts on Mac varies slightly compared to its Windows counterpart, but is no less simplistic.

  1. Access settings from the three-dot icon at the top left side of the program.
  2. Select Contacts then Blocked Contacts.
  3. Highlight the name of the person you wish to unblock and select unblock.
  4. The person’s profile will then appear, indicating they are unblocked.

How to Unblock Someone on Skype for Web

If Skype for Web is your preferred version of Skype, no worries. Unblocking someone is as quick and easy as other platforms. Have your keyboard at the ready.

  1. Acess the Contacts booklet icon at the left side of the screen.
  2. Scroll to search for the contact you wish to unblock.
  3. Highlight the name of the person you wish to unblock. Blocked users have a red stop icon next to their name.
  4. Press Ctrl and select the contact to reveal a drop-down menu.
  5. Select Unblock contact.

How to Unblock Someone on Skype for Android and iOS

The methods for unblocking a contact on Android and iOS is nearly identical, save for some differences in what specific menus you must navigate to and interact with.

  1. Tap Chats on the bottom left corner of the screen.
  2. Tap your profile picture, located in the upper middle part of the screen to bring up the profile.
  3. On Android, scroll down and select Settings. On iOS, Select Privacy.
  4. On Android, select Contacts, then Blocked Contacts. For iOS, tap Manage blocked contacts.
  5. Tap Unblock next to the name of the person to unblock a contact.
  6. The unblocked contacts will immediately disappear from the blocked list and appear in contacts.

Unblock on Skype mobile tips

Older versions of Skype for Android and iOS may not hide blocked contacts in a contact list. Instead, blocked contacts will have a red stop icon next to their name. Users can unblock these people by long pressing the name, accessing their profile, and then tap Unblock contact.

Similarly, Skype on Android or iOS may not hide a blocked contact if their number is saved in the phone's app contacts. These contacts will have On Skype as Name/Username listed underneath their name in Skype's contact list. Instructions to unblock these users is the same as for older Skype versions.

How to Unblock Someone on Skype for Business

Skype for Business is tied into Outlook, but the process to unblock someone is still as simple and straightforward as other methods explained so far.

  1. Access your contacts in Skype and search for the contact's name in the search bar.
  2. Highlight the contact and press Ctrl, then select the contact.
  3. Highlight Change Privacy Relationship.
  4. Select Auto-assign Relationship.
  5. Accept the warning you're prompted with to confirm the person is unblocked.
