How to Turn Off Autoplay on Facebook

  • On Facebook on PC, go to Settings & Privacy > Settings > Videos > Auto-Play Videos, and make sure it's set to Off.
  • On the Facebook app, go to Settings & Privacy > Settings > Preferences > Media. Under Autoplay, select Never Autoplay Videos.

When you disable Facebook video autoplay, you can still watch any videos you choose by selecting the Play icon on the screen. You can turn off autoplay on a computer or mobile device.

How to Stop Videos From Automatically Playing on Facebook

Change your video autoplay settings on Facebook from a browser on any computer.

Turning off Facebook Autoplay in a web browser doesn't affect the settings in the Facebook mobile app.

  1. Select the down arrow in the upper-right corner of Facebook.

  5. Select the drop-down menu to the right of Auto-Play Videos, then select Off.

How to Turn Off Autoplay on the Facebook App for iOS or Android

To disable Facebook video autoplay on an iOS device, you must do so from within the app.

  1. Select the hamburger menu (☰) in the lower-right corner of the screen.

  2. Select Settings & Privacy.

  3. Tap Settings.

  5. Under Autoplay, select Never Autoplay Videos.
